Occupational violence is a daily reality for far too many workers in Canada.
It is preventable and should never be seen as just “part of the job”.
If anyone ever tells you violence is part of your job, contact your union right away. The most important first step of dealing with workplace violence is accurate reporting of all incidents. No worker should ever be deterred from or made to feel less than by exercising their right to report occupational violence. In fact, it is the law in Ontario (Occupational Health and Safety Act).
