Workers’ Day of Mourning – April 28th, 2026

Every year on April 28th we pay our respects to, and remember, the thousands of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents. Every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each workday. Please take a moment to honour those workers and their families.

International Women’s Day – March 8, 2026

On March 8, CUPE 4186 stands with women workers worldwide to demand action! In 2026, we are pushing back against structural barriers and fighting for real equality.
We are demanding:
  • Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value: Ending the pay gap for racialized, Indigenous, and disabled women.
  • Ending Gender-Based Violence: Demanding workplaces free from harassment.
  • Accessible Childcare: Ensuring public, affordable, and universal childcare.
Our strength is in our solidarity. Let’s continue to fight for a better future, together.

Mass Shooting – Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, Tumbler Ridge, BC

CUPE 4186 stands in solidarity with the staff, students, and families impacted by the tragic shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
No one should have to face this kind of violence — especially on a place meant for learning and care.
To the educators and support workers showing up for their communities in unimaginable circumstances: we see you, we honour you, and we stand with you.
In the days ahead, we call for compassion, support for those grieving and traumatized, and real commitment to keep schools safe and caring spaces for every child and worker.
We are I. Solidarity with our colleagues across B.C. 💙
