STRIKE VOTE OUTCOME:

On Saturday, March 28, 2015 our Local held a Strike Vote regarding Bargaining. The question of whether or not members were in favour of job action, up and to including strike action, at both the Local bargaining table and the Central Table bargaining was discussed and voted on.

For the over 200 people present, the results were a resounding YES. We stand behind our Bargaining teams – both Locally and Provincially.

The Provincial CUPE team and the Trustees Association Provincial team have met several times. Because they have not yet been able to come to agreement on what items are to be bargained at the Central table, and following the terms of the School Board Collective Bargaining Act (Bill 122), the matter has now been referred to the Ontario Labour Relations Board for determination of the Central Table items. Following that determination, Local bargaining is to commence.
